Ajiboye Sangogade Akande, popularly known as Boye Nation, has led supporters from different groups into the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, ahead of the 2027 general elections in Oyo State.
Akande, a former Personal Assistant to former Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu, announced his defection on Monday at the Boye Nation/JAF Movement Mega Concert held at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan.
The event, themed “Young, United, Unstoppable,” also served as the formal reception of Boye Nation and its supporters into the APM.
Akande said his decision followed his consideration of political developments in Oyo State, particularly preparations for the 2027 governorship election.
According to him, the APM provides a platform through which the aspirations of young people can be pursued in the next political dispensation.
He urged supporters joining the party across the state to become actively involved in politics, stressing that the 2027 elections would have implications for welfare, empowerment and development.
The gathering was attended by APM leaders, including Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, the party’s presidential candidate, and Bimbo Adekanmbi, its governorship candidate in Oyo State.
Also present were members of the APM state executive, senatorial candidates and members of the Oyo State House of Assembly.
Akande, however, clarified that his decision to join the APM was not connected to Adelabu.
“I was a former Personal Assistant (PA) to Chief Adebayo Adelabu. I am not in any way in crisis with anyone. I’m mature enough to make a decision. What we are doing today has nothing to do with Adelabu; it was a decision I took independently,” he said.
The development comes amid increased political mobilisation by parties and support groups ahead of the 2027 elections.
The Boye Nation/JAF concert combined political activities with entertainment, attracting supporters and political figures from across Oyo State.
