Motorists, commuters and residents have appealed to the Ogun State Government to urgently complete the second phase of the Mowe-Ofada Road reconstruction project, citing persistent traffic congestion, vehicle damage and rising transportation costs.
The appeal was made in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria, where road users commended the reconstruction of the first section of the road but urged the government to extend the project to the remaining stretch.
They said the unfinished section has become a major challenge, causing frequent delays, vehicle breakdowns and hardship for residents, workers and businesses that depend on the corridor.

Commercial driver Johnson Fadeyi said the poor condition of the road has reduced the number of trips he makes daily while increasing vehicle maintenance costs.
“We face serious problems on this section of the road, especially when it rains. I want to appeal to the state governor to urgently find a lasting solution to the road,” he said.
Commuter Bimpe Olaitan also described the road as a daily burden for passengers, particularly during peak periods and the rainy season.
Transporter Kadiri Bala said the damaged section has slowed the movement of goods and services, affecting businesses operating in Mowe, Ofada and surrounding communities In Ogun State.
He urged the Ogun State Government to prioritise the completion of the project, saying it would improve connectivity, reduce transportation costs and boost economic activities across the area.
Resident Pastor Sunday Famuyiwa called on relevant authorities to continue palliative repairs on failed sections while work on the remaining portion progresses.
He added that completing the second phase of the project would improve road safety, support economic growth and enhance the quality of life for thousands of people who use the route daily.
As of the time of filing this report, the Ogun State Government had not publicly responded to the appeal.
