Nigeria’s sprint hurdling star, Tobi Amusan, continued her impressive resurgence on the global stage after storming to victory in the women’s 100m hurdles at the Paris Diamond League, matching her season’s best time of 12.28 seconds.

The world record holder delivered a commanding performance on Sunday, overtaking early pacesetter Nadine Visser before pulling away decisively to secure victory ahead of a strong American contingent.

American hurdler Grace Stark crossed the finish line second in 12.38 seconds, while compatriot Alaysha Johnson settled for third place in 12.39 seconds.

Amusan’s winning mark represents the third time this season she has posted 12.28 seconds, having previously recorded the identical time at both the Xiamen Diamond League and the Rabat Diamond League in May.

The triumph marks her second Diamond League victory of the 2026 campaign following her success in Rabat, further underlining her return to top form ahead of the latter stages of the season.

The 28-year-old also heads into the coming months buoyed by her recent victory at the New Taipei City Athletics Open, extending a strong run of performances that has steadily built momentum.

Amusan opened her season on the back of claiming a fourth consecutive African title and has since demonstrated increasing consistency as she prepares for the Diamond League final and the Commonwealth Games later this year.

Her latest success in Paris is likely to strengthen confidence within Team Nigeria as the country’s most decorated female track athlete seeks to re-establish herself among the world’s elite hurdlers.

Amusan remains one of the most successful athletes in Diamond League history, having won three consecutive women’s 100m hurdles titles between 2021 and 2023.

After missing out on another crown last season, the Nigerian is firmly back in contention and appears determined to reclaim the Diamond League title.

With several major meetings still ahead on the athletics calendar, Sunday’s victory reinforces her status as one of the athletes to watch heading into the season finale.
