Leading figures of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State on Thursday held a closed-door meeting aimed at strengthening the party’s structure and fostering unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The meeting brought together former Senate Leader Teslim Folarin, former Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu, Senator Abdulfatai Buhari and former Oyo State Deputy Governor Rauf Olaniyan, alongside prominent APC leaders from the state’s 33 local government areas.

Although the venue was not disclosed, party insiders described the gathering as part of ongoing consultations to reposition the APC and rebuild internal cohesion following disagreements over the party’s primary elections.

According to a party source, the leaders discussed strategies for working with other stakeholders to strengthen the party’s grassroots structure and mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

The source added that participants also explored ways of improving collaboration among different blocs within the party ahead of the elections.

The meeting comes against the backdrop of reconciliation efforts within the Oyo APC after protests greeted the emergence of some candidates during the party’s congresses and primaries.

To address the grievances, the party established a reconciliation committee co-chaired by Senator Femi Lanlehin and Professor Taoreed Adedoja.

During the committee’s inauguration, the co-chairmen assured members that concerns raised by aggrieved aspirants would be addressed and pledged that no stakeholder would be left behind in the reconciliation process.

State APC Chairman Moses Adeyemo also urged members of the committee to use their experience to resolve disputes and ensure the party approaches future elections as a united political family.

The renewed consultations among party leaders are seen as part of broader efforts to consolidate the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
