The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has apologised to Band A customers across Ogun, Oyo and Kwara states after several feeders failed to meet their expected electricity supply hours on Monday.

The affected feeders recorded between zero and 19 hours of supply, with IBEDC blaming the disruptions on a combination of Transmission Company of Nigeria forced outages and load shedding, IBEDC faults, equipment trips and disconnections linked to unpaid bills.

Band A customers are expected to receive a minimum of 20 hours of electricity supply daily under Nigeria’s service-based tariff framework.

In a Tuesday notice, IBEDC apologised for failing to deliver the estimated hours of supply on the affected feeders.

The company attributed the shortfalls to TCN forced outages, TCN load shedding, IBEDC forced outages, load shedding, overcurrent and earth faults, as well as disconnections over non-payment.

Among the feeders that recorded no supply was the Water Works (Ojere) 33kV feeder in Abeokuta, which serves the Arakanga Water Scheme and Iberekodo.

IBEDC said the feeder was disconnected because of non-payment.

The Railway (Papa) 33kV feeder, which supplies the Papalanto Train Station, also recorded zero hours, while the Moniya Railway 33kV feeder serving Moniya Train Station in Ibadan similarly remained disconnected over unpaid bills.

The Joju 33kV feeder, serving Owode, Ajibode and Iya Ilogbo, was also without supply for most of the day after a TCN forced outage caused by a breaker fault.

Several other feeders recorded between 12 and 19 hours of supply.

In Ibadan, the Oluyole 11kV feeder supplied electricity for 15 hours after an IBEDC forced outage and an overcurrent fault.

The Molete Industrial 33kV feeder recorded 19 hours after overcurrent and earth faults, while the Express 33kV feeder recorded 12 hours following an overcurrent and earth fault.

The Eruwa Lanlate and Idofian 33kV feeders each recorded 19 hours after earth and overcurrent faults.

In Ogun State, the Ilaro and Water Works (Papalanto) 33kV feeders each recorded 17 hours after TCN load shedding.

The Ijagba 33kV feeder supplied electricity for 19 hours following TCN load shedding, while the Ogunmakin/Ajebo feeder recorded 19 hours after an earth fault.

The Poly 11kV feeder recorded 15 hours after IBEDC load shedding and an earth fault, while the Makun Commercial 33kV feeder supplied power for 15 hours after an earth fault.

IBEDC said most of the affected feeders had been restored by Tuesday.

However, the Water Works (Ojere) 33kV feeder remained out, while the Moniya Railway and Railway (Papa) 33kV feeders were still disconnected over non-payment.

The latest disruption comes amid continuing challenges across the electricity supply chain, including national-grid allocation constraints, load management and rising demand across IBEDC’s franchise area.

IBEDC has previously said that the addition of more Band A feeders has increased demand on its network while available energy from the national grid has remained unstable.

The company has also implemented NERC-approved compensation for eligible Band A customers affected by specified supply shortfalls earlier in 2026.

IBEDC said it remained committed to meeting the estimated supply hours for its customers.
