French President Emmanuel Macron will visit Nigeria later this year for a State visit aimed at strengthening diplomatic, economic and security cooperation between both countries.
The announcement was made by the French Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Marc Fonbaustier, during France’s National Day celebration in Abuja.
According to the envoy, the visit will come two years after President Bola Tinubu’s State visit to Paris and will allow both leaders to review progress made under their bilateral partnership while setting new priorities for future cooperation.

Fonbaustier described Nigeria and France as partners of equals, saying both nations remain committed to mutual respect, dialogue and shared development goals.
He highlighted expanding economic partnerships involving French companies, ongoing agricultural projects supported by the French Development Agency and growing collaboration in the fight against terrorism.
The ambassador also noted that Macron’s vision for Africa was shaped partly by the six months he spent in Nigeria as a student over two decades ago.
The State visit is expected to further deepen cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, security, education and regional diplomacy.
