Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested 81 suspected criminals and recovered large quantities of suspected illicit drugs during intelligence-led raids on identified criminal hideouts in Asaba.
The operation, conducted on July 24, 2026, targeted criminal flashpoints across the metropolis as part of the command’s efforts to dismantle criminal networks and enhance public safety.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, said the operation was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Department of Operations alongside tactical teams of the command.

According to the police, officers acted on credible intelligence before raiding identified criminal locations across the city.
The operation led to the arrest of 81 suspects, comprising 50 males and 31 females, for alleged offences including the possession and sale of suspected illicit drugs and operating an illegal checkpoint at the Asaba-Onitsha Head Bridge.
Police said they recovered large quantities of Tramadol and substances suspected to be Indian hemp during the raids.
The enforcement exercise also resulted in the impoundment of five vehicles for alleged violations, including operating an unauthorised taxi park at Pinnacle Junction along Okpanam Road and facilitating the sale and distribution of suspected illicit drugs.
The command said the suspects and recovered exhibits remain in custody while investigations continue.
Commissioner of Police CP Yemi Oyeniyi reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and proactive crime prevention, warning criminals to desist from unlawful activities or face prosecution.
The latest operation underscores the Delta State Police Command’s ongoing campaign against drug-related offences and other criminal activities across the state.
