The Kano State Police Command has arrested a woman for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend and severing his manhood during a violent altercation in the Badawa area of Kano State.
The incident left the victim with severe injuries. He is currently receiving treatment at a medical facility, while police continue investigations into the circumstances surrounding the attack.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Kano State Police Command confirmed the arrest of the female suspect, saying detectives have launched a full investigation to establish what led to the violence.
“The Kano State Police Command has arrested a female suspect for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend and completely cutting off his manhood during a violent altercation in Badawa.”
Police added that the victim remains under medical care.
“The victim is receiving medical treatment, while investigations are ongoing.”
Preliminary information indicates that the incident followed a dispute between the couple, although authorities have yet to officially disclose the motive. Investigators are interviewing witnesses and gathering evidence before deciding on possible charges.
The police assured residents that the suspect remains in custody and would be prosecuted if investigations establish a criminal offence. The command also urged members of the public to resolve personal disputes through lawful means rather than resorting to violence.
The incident is the latest in a series of similar cases reported in different parts of Nigeria in recent years, highlighting concerns over escalating domestic and relationship-related violence.
In May 2025, police in Rivers State arrested a woman after she allegedly bit off part of her lover’s penis during an argument, while similar cases were reported in Ogun and Kaduna states in 2024.
Police say further details of the Kano incident will be made public as investigations progress.
