President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has wrapped up his four-day visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, describing his entry into the interior of the Holy Kaaba in Makkah as a powerful symbol of the enduring friendship between Nigeria and the Gulf nation.
The President, who left Abuja on Thursday, October 29, to perform Umrah (the lesser Hajj), announced the conclusion of his spiritual journey in a message shared via his official X handle on Monday.
Joined by a high-level delegation comprising state governors, senior government officials, and business leaders, Tinubu performed the religious rites at the Grand Mosque, Masjid al-Haram, before being granted entry into the Kaaba—a rare privilege extended by the Saudi royal family to select global leaders.
Reflecting on the gesture, the President expressed gratitude to Saudi Arabia’s leadership for their hospitality and reverence toward Nigeria.
“I have concluded my visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where, together with members of my delegation, I had the rare honour of entering the Holy Kaaba to pray, and of performing Umrah,” Tinubu wrote.
“I am deeply grateful to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and to Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman for extending this privilege to us, and for their gracious hospitality and brotherly care. It reflects the enduring bonds of faith and friendship between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia.”
Tinubu revealed that his prayers inside the sacred shrine focused on national stability, economic revitalization, and peaceful coexistence across the country. He noted that steering the affairs of Nigeria requires constant humility, resilience, and divine wisdom.
“In those sacred moments, I prayed for peace, unity and prosperity for our dear nation and for all Nigerians,” the President added.
The spiritual exercise follows months of renewed bilateral engagements between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia, as both nations continue to explore deeper trade, energy, and investment ties.
The Presidency confirmed that President Tinubu will return to Abuja later this week following the conclusion of his engagements in the Kingdom.
