The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, will formally unveil his Oyo AHEAD manifesto on Tuesday, November 3, presenting his proposed development agenda to stakeholders ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The presentation is scheduled to take place at Theophilus Ogunlesi Hall, opposite the main gate of the University College Hospital, Ibadan.
According to a statement by Bisi Oladele, Director of Media and Publicity of the Senator Sharafadeen Alli Campaign Organisation, the event will bring together representatives of different sectors of the state to examine the candidate’s proposed development blueprint.
Expected participants include representatives of the organised private sector, labour unions, community development associations, farmers, students, artisans, academics, traders, women’s groups and non-indigenes.
APC leaders and candidates contesting various positions in the 2027 elections are also expected to attend.
The campaign organisation said Alli would present the manifesto sector by sector, explaining his proposed policies and programmes for repositioning the state.
What Oyo AHEAD represents
The manifesto, tagged Oyo AHEAD (Ìtàyọ̀ Ọ̀yọ́), is described by the campaign organisation as a people-centred development framework designed to improve the state’s performance across key development indicators and restore its pace-setting status.
Details published on the candidate’s official manifesto platform identify five major pillars underpinning the agenda.
They include autonomy for local governments and infrastructure development; healthcare delivery; education, human capital development, economic growth and job creation; agriculture and solid minerals; and security.
Under the infrastructure pillar, the proposed agenda includes restoring financial autonomy to the 33 local government areas, improving road networks, expanding access to electricity and water, and addressing urban development challenges.
On healthcare, the manifesto proposes wider health insurance coverage, upgraded primary healthcare facilities, mobile clinics and dedicated healthcare support for senior citizens.
The education and economic development component outlines plans for skills acquisition, technical education, investment promotion, employment opportunities and support for small businesses.
In agriculture, the proposed programmes include modern irrigation, agro-processing facilities, improved agricultural inputs and initiatives to strengthen food production.
The security pillar focuses on strengthening existing security agencies, supporting community policing arrangements and improving responses to threats across communities and highways.
Alli’s 2027 governorship ambition
Alli, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, declared his intention to contest the governorship election on April 17, 2026.
The senator subsequently emerged as the APC’s governorship candidate following consultations among party leaders and stakeholders.
The party formally unveiled him alongside other candidates for the 2027 elections at an event in Ibadan in September.
His emergence has positioned him as the APC’s standard-bearer in its bid to challenge the ruling political establishment in Oyo State.
The 2027 governorship contest will be significant for the APC as it seeks to regain control of the state, which it lost after the 2019 election.
The manifesto presentation is expected to provide an opportunity for stakeholders to examine the candidate’s proposed priorities, particularly in infrastructure, agriculture, education, healthcare, employment and security.
It will also offer residents and interest groups an opportunity to assess the proposed policies and seek clarification on their implementation.
