Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has approved a cabinet reshuffle affecting dozens of political appointees in Kwara State, including Special Advisers, Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants, the Deputy Chief of Staff, and the Principal Private Secretary.
The decision was announced in a statement issued on Monday by the governor’s Deputy Chief Press Secretary, Mashood Agboola, who described the exercise as a minor cabinet shake-up aimed at injecting fresh ideas into the administration and widening political participation.
“Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has approved a minor cabinet shake-up involving all Special Advisers, Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, and Special Assistants,” the statement said.
According to the government, the move is designed to open up opportunities for more members of the ruling party to contribute to governance while strengthening the administration’s delivery of its agenda.
The statement disclosed that the exercise also affects the Deputy Chief of Staff and the Principal Private Secretary to the Governor.
Officials impacted by the decision have been directed to hand over all government property in their possession to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.
GovernorAbdulRazaq expressed appreciation to the affected appointees for their contributions and service to the state, wishing them success in their future endeavours.
“Governor AbdulRazaq thanks the affected appointees for their services to the state and wishes them success in their future endeavours,” the statement added.
Although the government did not immediately announce replacements, political observers believe the reshuffle could pave the way for a broader reconstitution of the administration ahead of the next phase of governance in the state.
Cabinet reshuffles are often used by state governments to reinvigorate their teams, reward party loyalists, and accommodate a wider spectrum of political stakeholders.
Governor AbdulRazaq, who is serving his second term in office, has periodically adjusted appointments within his administration as part of efforts to improve efficiency and sustain political inclusiveness.
Monday’s announcement signals another phase in the administration’s effort to refresh its governing structure while creating room for new entrants within the ruling party.
