The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast sunshine, cloudy conditions and thunderstorms across Nigeria from Sunday to Tuesday, warning residents in coastal states to prepare for possible flash flooding.
In its latest weather outlook released in Abuja on Sunday, the agency predicted sunny skies with patches of clouds across the northern region on Sunday, alongside thunderstorms over parts of Taraba, Adamawa and Kaduna during the morning.
Later in the day, thunderstorms accompanied by moderate rainfall are expected over parts of Borno, Bauchi, Gombe, Jigawa, Katsina, Kano, Kaduna, Adamawa and Taraba states.

For the North Central region, NiMet forecast morning thunderstorms over Plateau, Niger, Nasarawa and the Federal Capital Territory, with rainfall expected to extend to Kogi, Benue, Plateau, Niger, Nasarawa and the FCT during the afternoon and evening.
In the South, moderate rainfall is expected over parts of Ondo, Ogun, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Lagos and Bayelsa during the morning before spreading across the region later in the day.
On Monday, the agency predicted thunderstorms over parts of Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, Adamawa and Taraba during the morning, with more widespread rainfall expected later across several northern states.
North Central states are also expected to experience thunderstorms, while southern states including Cross River, Delta, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Lagos and Rivers will likely receive light morning rainfall before moderate thunderstorms develop later in the day.
For Tuesday, NiMet forecast partly cloudy skies across northern Nigeria with light morning rainfall over parts of Bauchi, Jigawa and Yobe before thunderstorms become more widespread during the afternoon and evening.
The agency advised residents to secure loose objects, avoid driving through floodwaters, disconnect electrical appliances during storms and stay away from tall trees during heavy rainfall.
NiMet also urged airline operators to obtain airport-specific weather reports and encouraged Nigerians to keep up with official weather updates.
