Ogun Projects: Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following the President’s recent visit to the state, during which several major infrastructure projects were officially commissioned.
In a message shared on his official Facebook page on Tuesday, Abiodun described the visit as historic and said it marked another milestone in Ogun State’s ongoing development drive.
The President had visited the state over the weekend to commission the Gateway International Airport in Iperu, unveil Gateway Airlines, and receive the first cargo airline into the facility, alongside other strategic projects. Abiodun said he later visited the President to personally convey his gratitude for the visit and for supporting projects that he said would strengthen the state’s economy and logistics capacity.
“Yesterday, I had the honour and privilege to visit and thank the President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic, for the historic visit to Ogun State to commission the Gateway International Airport, Gateway Airlines, welcome the first cargo airline, and other landmark projects,” the governor wrote.

According to the governor, he also presented Tinubu with a ceremonial sword as a symbolic gesture linked to the President’s traditional title.
Abiodun explained that the presentation was made in recognition of Tinubu’s title as Jagaban, a title widely interpreted as “leader of warriors” or “conquerors.”
He said the symbolic gesture was also a call for the President to sustain efforts in confronting insecurity and corruption across the country.
“I presented him with a ceremonial sword in his esteemed capacity as the Jagaban (leader of warriors/conquerors), urging him to continue his war on crime and criminality, anti-corruption, and particularly as he embarks on the second-term re-election,” he stated.
The governor further reaffirmed Ogun State’s political support for the President and his administration.
“Assuring him that in Ogun State, we are solidly behind him,” Abiodun added.
During the commissioning visit, Tinubu inaugurated the Gateway International Airport, the state-owned airline project, two commercial aircraft, security vehicles, electric motorcycles, and other infrastructure aimed at boosting transportation, trade, and investment in the state.
The projects are part of Ogun State’s broader strategy to position itself as a major aviation, logistics, and industrial hub in Nigeria.
The airport, located along the Iperu-Ilishan corridor, is expected to support cargo movement, business travel, and export operations, while the launch of Gateway Airlines is projected to improve regional connectivity and economic activity.
The President had also used the occasion to commend the governor’s development efforts, describing the airport and related projects as strategic investments with long-term economic value.
