2027: Kaduna Group Targets 1.2m Votes for Tinubu, Uba Sani

The Aminiya Movement says security, education, agriculture and infrastructure projects will form the centrepiece of its campaign to secure second terms for the APC leaders.

The Aminiya Movement for Uba Sani/Tinubu has set a target of 1.2 million votes for President Bola Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani in the 2027 general elections, urging voters to give the two All Progressives Congress leaders a second term.

The movement’s coordinator, Abdulmumini Aminu-Zaria, announced the target during a media engagement in Kaduna on Sunday, citing what he described as achievements in security, education, agriculture and infrastructure.

He said the group would mobilise support for both leaders to enable them to complete ongoing projects and consolidate their policies.

“The sole purpose is to galvanise support and get 1.2 million votes for the two of them,” Aminu-Zaria said.

Defending Sani’s performance, the coordinator acknowledged that insecurity remained a challenge but argued that dialogue with community leaders and efforts to address grievances behind farmer-herder clashes and communal tensions had helped reduce violence.

“I am not saying that the security situation in Kaduna State is 100 per cent gone, but I know that it has been suppressed to a large extent. Before we start to talk about development, we have to go in search of peace,” he said.

He maintained that restoring peace was necessary to create an environment where communities could pursue economic activities and benefit from government projects.

On education, Aminu-Zaria praised the governor for reducing tuition fees in state-owned tertiary institutions by 50 per cent, supporting disadvantaged students sitting external examinations and investing in school infrastructure.

He also credited the state’s school-feeding programme with encouraging more children to return to school, although he did not provide figures to support the claim.

The coordinator said the administration’s agricultural interventions included distributing free fertiliser and tractors to farmers, as well as constructing rural roads to improve access to farms and markets.

He put the number of road projects initiated by the government at about 150, covering approximately 1,450 kilometres across the state.

Aminu-Zaria said the administration had prioritised rural communities, arguing that better roads and agricultural support would improve livelihoods and expand economic opportunities.

He also credited Tinubu’s administration with supporting development projects in Kaduna through cooperation between the federal and state governments.

“Most of these gigantic projects that are only found in the South, particularly in Lagos, are in Kaduna State simply because of the support of the President,” he said.

The movement’s coordinator defended Tinubu’s economic reforms despite widespread concerns about rising living costs, arguing that difficult policy decisions could be necessary to achieve long-term economic stability.

He also opposed calls for the presidency to return to the North in 2027, insisting that the principle of power rotation should guide political negotiations.

“Tinubu is on board. He is from the South because we rotate. So it is only natural for him to spend his eight years, after which a Northerner can bid for it,” Aminu-Zaria said.

His position reflects the argument that Tinubu should complete two terms before a northern candidate seeks the presidency. The APC’s eventual presidential candidate, however, will emerge through the party’s nomination process.

On Sani’s re-election prospects, Aminu-Zaria expressed confidence that the governor would secure another term, citing improved relations between the state government and Southern Kaduna communities.

He said engagement with Christian and Muslim communities had helped strengthen peaceful coexistence across the state.

The coordinator urged residents to support the APC in 2027, warning that a change of government could affect the continuation of ongoing projects.

“You cannot be sure that if anybody comes in, the projects Uba Sani started, he will complete them. I don’t think we have any reason not to give the APC a second chance,” he said.

The movement’s 1.2 million-vote target sets an ambitious benchmark for its mobilisation campaign. Whether the group can translate its stated support into votes will depend on its grassroots reach, voters’ assessment of the two administrations and the political dynamics ahead of the 2027 elections.
