Operatives of the Kebbi State Hisbah Board have arrested 25 youths in Argungu over alleged involvement in immoral activities.
The operation was carried out on July 3 at a hotel in the town as part of ongoing efforts by the board to tackle social vices in the state.
Director of Shariah at the board, Sirajo Kamba, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Saturday in Birnin Kebbi.
According to him, those arrested comprised 12 males and 13 females.
“On July 3, the Kebbi Hisbah Board carried out a raid at a hotel in Argungu and successfully apprehended 25 suspects allegedly involved in immoral activities,” Kamba said.
“Those arrested include 12 males and 13 females.”
He explained that the exercise forms part of measures aimed at promoting moral values and maintaining peace and decency across Kebbi State.
“The operation is part of the board’s ongoing efforts to combat social vices, promote moral values and maintain peace and decency across Kebbi,” he added.
Kamba said the board would carry out a detailed investigation in line with legal procedures.
He assured that any suspect found culpable after investigations would face the appropriate legal process.
“The board will conduct a thorough investigation in accordance with the law, and anyone found culpable will face the appropriate legal process,” he stated.
Authorities have not released further details about the identities of the suspects or the specific offences under investigation.
