The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Akwa Ibom State has commended Governor Umo Eno for the introduction of compressed natural gas buses and the unveiling of the 350-bed Ibom International Hospital, describing the projects as enduring investments for future generations.
Chairman of IPAC in the state, Blessing Umo, gave the commendation on Friday in Uyo following the July edition of the State Projects Delivery Meeting held at the Banquet Hall of Government House.
The meeting featured updates by the governor on major projects and ongoing initiatives across strategic sectors, including healthcare, transportation and infrastructure.
Speaking with journalists after the session, Umo said the projects reflected a government committed to innovation, foresight and improved living standards.
According to her, sustainable development depends on deliberate investments in sectors that provide long-term benefits for citizens.
She described the introduction of the 20 CNG buses as a milestone in Akwa Ibom’s drive towards modern, affordable and environmentally friendly transportation.
“The introduction of CNG buses is not just about expanding the transport system; it is about embracing innovation, reducing transportation costs, promoting environmental sustainability and positioning Akwa Ibom as a leader in clean energy mobility,” she said.
Umo noted that the initiative would improve mobility, lower transportation costs and align the state with global clean energy standards.
She also described the Ibom International Hospital as a strategic investment capable of transforming healthcare delivery in the state and the wider region.
“This is a project designed with future generations in mind. They are enduring investments that will continue to serve our people long after today’s political discourse has faded. Governor Umo Eno is laying a solid foundation for a healthier, more prosperous and economically competitive Akwa Ibom State,” she added.
The IPAC chairman called on residents, irrespective of political affiliation, to support development initiatives aimed at promoting collective progress.
She stressed that meaningful development should always rise above partisan considerations and remain focused on improving the wellbeing of the people.
