Newly elected President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, has pledged to build an association where lawyers will earn better, live better and practise better.
Speaking after her victory in the NBA’s 2026 national officers’ election, Badejo-Okusanya thanked members of the association for their confidence and described her election as a victory for every lawyer who believes in a stronger and more inclusive Bar.
She said consultations held with lawyers across Nigeria during her campaign would shape the priorities of her administration.

The president-elect also called for unity among members, urging lawyers to move beyond the election and work together for the advancement of the profession and the defence of justice and the rule of law.
Badejo-Okusanya pledged to lead with integrity, fairness, humility and accountability while prioritising members’ welfare.
She secured 12,317 votes to defeat Lateef Akangbe, SAN, who polled 7,934 votes, while Olumuyiwa Akinboro, SAN, received 5,855 votes.
Her victory makes her the 33rd President of the Nigerian Bar Association and only the second woman to lead the association after Priscilla Kuye.
Badejo-Okusanya will serve from 2026 to 2028, succeeding Afam Osigwe, SAN.
