France forward Kylian Mbappe has become the first player in history to win the FIFA World Cup Golden Boot twice after finishing as the tournament’s leading scorer at the 2026 World Cup.
The Real Madrid star scored 10 goals in eight matches, adding to the Golden Boot he won at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with eight goals.
Mbappe also became the first player to score 10 goals at a men’s World Cup since Gerd Muller achieved the feat in 1970.

His performances lifted him to the top of the men’s all-time World Cup scoring chart with 22 goals, moving ahead of Argentina captain Lionel Messi.
The French captain completed his tally with two goals in France’s third-place play-off defeat to England.
Messi entered the final needing three goals to overtake Mbappe but failed to score as Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 to win the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
England’s Jude Bellingham and Norway’s Erling Haaland finished with seven goals each, while Harry Kane and Ousmane Dembele scored six apiece.
Spain goalkeeper Unai Simon won the Golden Glove after conceding only one goal and keeping seven clean sheets in eight matches, helping Spain lift the World Cup trophy.
