Newly inaugurated Delta State Commissioner Moses Ogodo became visibly emotional on Monday after Governor Sheriff Oborevwori formally swore him into the State Executive Council at the Government House in Asaba.
Moments after taking the oath of office, Ogodo broke down in tears and attempted to kneel before the governor in appreciation for his appointment.
Governor Oborevwori immediately stopped the gesture and urged the commissioner to remain standing.

“Don’t kneel down for me. Stand up. We are here to serve Deltans together,” the governor said.
His response drew applause from officials and guests who attended the swearing-in ceremony.
The Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Media, Ossai Ovie Success, shared details of the emotional moment on Tuesday alongside a video of the event.
Describing it as “tears of joy,” Ossai said the commissioner became overwhelmed with emotion after taking the oath of office.
According to him, the atmosphere became emotional when Ogodo moved to kneel before the governor to express appreciation.
Oborevwori, however, immediately discouraged the action, stressing that both men had a shared responsibility to serve the people of Delta State.
Ossai described the governor’s response as a reflection of humility and leadership, saying it exemplified the administration’s M.O.R.E Agenda.
The accompanying video shows Ogodo wiping away tears before walking toward the governor, who signalled for him not to kneel. The pair later exchanged a handshake as those present applauded.
The swearing-in marks another step in the strengthening of the Delta State Executive Council as the Oborevwori administration continues implementing its development agenda.
