The Senator representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, Sunday Katung, has condemned the deadly attack on Naridon Village in Kamaru Ward of Kauru Local Government Area, describing the killings as a painful reminder of the persistent security challenges facing rural communities in Kaduna State.

In a statement issued on Monday, Katung expressed deep sorrow over the attack, which claimed several lives and left many others injured, extending his condolences to bereaved families and wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

“I received with profound grief and deep concern the distressing news of the attack on Naridon Village in Kamaru Ward, Kauru Local Government Area, which tragically claimed the lives of innocent citizens and left several others injured,” the senator said.

He noted that the entire Kaduna South Senatorial District shared in the grief of the affected community, stressing that no family should have to endure the pain of losing loved ones to violent attacks.

Katung offered prayers for the repose of the victims’ souls and expressed hope for the quick recovery of those receiving medical treatment.

Describing the incident as another wake-up call for authorities, the lawmaker said the recurring violence underscored the urgent need to strengthen security across vulnerable communities where residents depend on farming and other livelihoods.

He stressed that citizens should be able to live, work and cultivate their farms without fear of attacks.

“The recurring violence against innocent and hardworking citizens must not be allowed to become a part of our reality,” he said.

Katung called on security agencies to intensify efforts to identify, apprehend and prosecute those responsible, insisting that the people of Naridon and other vulnerable communities deserved justice rather than sympathy alone.

The senator also pledged to continue collaborating with Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, security agencies, traditional rulers, community leaders and other stakeholders to improve security and restore lasting peace across the district.

He commended the Kaduna State Government for its swift response to the tragedy, particularly the directive for the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency to provide immediate relief materials and humanitarian assistance to affected families.

Katung further appealed to residents to remain calm and vigilant, urging communities to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible intelligence that could help prevent future attacks and facilitate the arrest of perpetrators.

He also called on citizens to remain united despite the tragedy, expressing confidence that collective efforts involving government, security agencies and local communities would help restore peace and stability across Kaduna South.

The attack has renewed concerns over insecurity in parts of Kaduna State, where communities have repeatedly faced violent assaults by armed groups in recent years. Security experts and community leaders have continued to advocate stronger intelligence gathering, rapid security response and closer collaboration between residents and law enforcement agencies to curb recurring attacks.
