Lima and Kira Taiwo have appealed to Nigerians and medical professionals to help their father access further cancer treatment.

The daughters of veteran Yoruba actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, have appealed for urgent medical assistance after disclosing that their father is battling stage-four cancer.

Lima and Kira Taiwo made separate emotional appeals on Instagram on Monday, asking Nigerians, well-wishers and medical professionals with experience in cancer treatment to help their father.

Lima, who struggled to hold back tears in a video, said the actor’s condition had deteriorated and that the family was having difficulty finding a hospital willing to continue his treatment.

“I’m here to ask for help from my daddy. He has cancer and it’s really, really bad,” she said.

She said the family only discovered the seriousness of Hassan’s condition about three weeks ago, adding that his appearance had initially given little indication of how ill he was.

According to her, the family was not seeking financial donations but wanted assistance from anyone who could connect them with a hospital, doctor or cancer specialist willing to treat the actor.

“Please, I’m begging you. If you know somebody that knows somebody that will be willing to treat him, anything, we’re willing to try anything,” Lima said.

She also expressed appreciation to a relative who had stepped in to support the family during the crisis.

In a separate video, Kira disclosed that her father’s cancer was at stage four and claimed that a hospital had told the family it could no longer administer chemotherapy.

“He has cancer and is in stage 4. The hospital is saying that they cannot treat him again, like they can’t give him chemo again,” she said.

Kira also appealed to cancer specialists and healthcare facilities capable of providing treatment to contact the family.

She thanked Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, saying he had been supporting the family and paying medical bills.

Adeola has maintained a longstanding relationship with Hassan. In 2019, the senator presented the actor with a Toyota Venza during celebrations marking his 60th birthday.

Kira’s appeal became emotional as she spoke about her father’s suffering and pleaded for anyone who could help to intervene.

“I don’t want my daddy to die,” she said.

The appeals have prompted concern among fans and colleagues of the veteran actor, but the specific hospital involved, the type of cancer and the full details of his medical condition have not been publicly disclosed by the family.

Hassan, 66, was born on October 31, 1959, in Ilaro, Ogun State. He began his acting career in the early 1980s and eventually left his job with the Lagos State Water Corporation to pursue acting full-time.

Over the years, he established himself as one of the leading figures in Yoruba cinema, working as an actor, producer and director. He has featured in numerous films, including Omo Ghetto, Anikulapo and Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre.

The actor remains one of the best-known veterans of Nigeria’s Yoruba-language film industry.

For now, his daughters’ appeal is centred on one request: finding medical professionals or a facility capable of giving their father another chance at treatment.
