The Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church Worldwide, Ayo Ni O, has appointed Most Senior Special Apostle Pastor Gabriel O. Kassim as its acting spiritual father following the death of Prophet Emmanuel Alogbo.
Kassim’s appointment was announced by the church’s Board of Trustees at an extraordinary meeting held on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at His Grace Vicarage, Galilee, Oyo State.
According to a statement issued by the church’s Secretary-General, Anthony Olusesan Samaye, Kassim, who chairs the church’s New York District, will assume the position with immediate effect.
“The Board of Trustees of Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church Worldwide, Ayo Ni O, at its Extraordinary Meeting held on Thursday, 20 August 2026, at His Grace Vicarage, Galilee, Oyo State, announced the appointment of Most Senior Special Apostle Pastor Gabriel O. Kassim, Chairman, New York District, as the Acting Spiritual Father of the Church with immediate effect,” Samaye said.
The appointment comes less than a month after the death of Alogbo, who served as the spiritual father and chairman of the Ayo Ni O movement.
Samaye called on members of the church to give Kassim the necessary support, cooperation and respect as he takes charge of the spiritual leadership during the transition.
He also urged members to remain united in prayer and continue to uphold the leadership and work of the church.
The church’s website had previously listed Kassim as a member of its Board of Trustees and identified him as a Most Senior Special Apostle with a church address in Brooklyn, New York.
Kassim’s appointment places an experienced member of the church’s leadership structure in an acting position as the movement navigates the period following Alogbo’s death.
Alogbo died on July 30, 2026, at the age of 93.
The late cleric reportedly died at about 2:10am at his residence in Ijaiye-Ojokoro, Lagos, surrounded by members of his family and domestic staff.
His death was announced by Samaye on behalf of the Board of Trustees and the entire church.
Until his death, Alogbo served as the Spiritual Father and Chairman of the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church Worldwide, Ayo Ni O, as well as the Supreme Head of the Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria.
The church had described his passing as a major loss and called on members to remain steadfast in faith and prayer.
With Kassim now assuming the role in an acting capacity, attention is expected to focus on the leadership transition and the steps the church will take regarding its long-term spiritual leadership.
