Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, has been honoured as a Christian Youth Peace Ambassador by the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria, YOWICAN.
The recognition was presented on Friday at the National Christian Youth Security Summit and Thanksgiving in Abuja.
Tinubu was absent from the event, with Ambassador Belusochukwu Enwere receiving the honour on his behalf.
In his message of appreciation, Tinubu described the recognition as a greater call to service and responsibility, while thanking YOWICAN for finding him worthy of the honour.
He pledged to continue supporting initiatives aimed at youth development, peace-building, national unity and positive social impact.
Tinubu said peace goes beyond the absence of conflict, stressing that it also requires justice, compassion, tolerance and mutual respect.
He commended YOWICAN for encouraging Christian youths to embrace responsible leadership and contribute to the development of their communities.
The President’s son also urged young Nigerians to see the country’s religious, ethnic and cultural diversity as an asset rather than a source of division.
He pledged support for programmes focused on youth empowerment and peaceful coexistence across Nigeria.
“Together, let us choose peace, promote love and build a Nigeria where every young person can dream, contribute and prosper,” he said.
The award is not the first youth-focused recognition received by Tinubu. In 2024, he was honoured by the Catholic Youth Organisation of Nigeria as an Icon of Peace and Development in Nigeria.
The latest recognition came as YOWICAN hosted Christian youth leaders and other stakeholders in Abuja for discussions on security, leadership and nation-building.
The National Christian Youth Security Summit and Thanksgiving is scheduled to run from September 3 to 5, bringing together participants to examine issues affecting young people, peaceful coexistence and national development.
The award also comes against the backdrop of increasing calls for young Nigerians to play a greater role in promoting dialogue, tolerance and national cohesion.
Tinubu’s acceptance message centred on that responsibility, with the President’s son calling on youths to embrace peace and work towards a Nigeria where young people can participate fully in national development.
