Olujuwon Obasanjo, son of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has joined the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement as Special Adviser on Political Affairs, declaring support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

Olujuwon announced his decision on Wednesday during a visit to the movement’s national headquarters in Abuja, where he was received by its National Coordinator, Sunday Adekanbi Asuku.

His appointment adds another political figure to the growing network of support groups mobilising grassroots backing for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election.

Speaking during the visit, Olujuwon described his appointment as an honour and privilege, commending the movement for its community outreach, grassroots mobilisation and efforts to promote the policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration.

He said he had followed the organisation’s activities for some time and was impressed by its approach to political mobilisation, adding that he was prepared to contribute to its objectives and the President’s second-term ambition.

“President Tinubu has started on a good note, making it necessary for Nigerians, particularly young people, to join hands to sustain the ongoing reforms and ensure continuity in governance,” he said.

Olujuwon also cited salary payments, infrastructure development and investment opportunities as areas where he believed the administration had recorded progress.

He expressed confidence that continued support for Tinubu would enable the government to consolidate its achievements and deliver more benefits to Nigerians.

The former president’s son also disclosed that he had belonged to the All Progressives Congress (APC) since 2014, stressing that political differences within his family did not prevent individual members from pursuing their preferred political interests.

He explained that his family allowed members to maintain independent political positions without hostility.

His declaration comes amid political activities and realignments ahead of the 2027 elections, with several support groups expanding their structures to mobilise voters for the incumbent President.

Asuku welcomes Obasanjo’s son

Welcoming Olujuwon into the organisation, Asuku described him as an experienced political figure whose background in leadership and governance would strengthen the movement’s mobilisation activities.

He expressed confidence that the new appointee would deploy his political experience and understanding of grassroots engagement to advance the organisation’s objectives.

“We are certain his experience and understanding of political mobilisation would strengthen the movement and advance its activities across the country,” Asuku said.

The national coordinator also expressed satisfaction with his decision to join the organisation, describing the appointment as an addition to its efforts to expand its political activities nationwide.

Tompolo-backed movement intensifies 2027 mobilisation

The PBAT Door-to-Door Movement is a political support organisation established to mobilise grassroots backing for Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

The movement is convened by Niger Delta figure Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, while Asuku serves as its national coordinator.

Its Abuja headquarters was formally inaugurated on October 23, 2026, by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu as part of efforts to strengthen its nationwide mobilisation structure.

The inauguration was attended by Senate President Godswill Akpabio and other political stakeholders, who urged members to take the administration’s Renewed Hope message to communities across the country.

The organisation has been expanding its structures across states and local government areas, with activities centred on community engagement, political mobilisation and promoting the President’s policies.

Olujuwon’s appointment comes as political groups increasingly position themselves ahead of the 2027 presidential contest.

His endorsement, however, represents his personal political position and should not be interpreted as an endorsement by his father, former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
