A group of former supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party and African Democratic Congress in Ogun State has launched a mobilisation campaign for President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in the state, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi.
The group, operating under the Yayi Ni Wura Alliance Movement (YAM), announced a target of mobilising 100,000 votes for APC candidates across Ogun State in the 2027 elections.
The movement disclosed this at a press briefing in Abeokuta on Thursday, September 24, 2026.
Its Director of Media and Publicity, Wasiu Adekunle Adejumo, popularly known as Westo, said the organisation comprises members with backgrounds in different political parties, including the PDP, ADC and APC.
Adejumo said the members decided to work together because of their support for Tinubu’s re-election and Adeola’s bid to become governor of Ogun State.
“Our target is to mobilise at least 100,000 votes to successfully ensure the re-election of President Bola Tinubu,” Adejumo said.
He also expressed support for other APC candidates contesting elections in the state, including Senator Shuaib Salisu and Olumide Osoba.
The 100,000 figure is a mobilisation target announced by the group and does not represent an independent projection of the eventual electoral result.
YAM expands grassroots mobilisation
The state coordinator of YAM, Akeem Shodiya, said the movement would continue to engage communities across Ogun as it seeks to expand its support base ahead of the 2027 elections.
He said the organisation remained open to people from other political platforms who were willing to join its mobilisation structure.
The group also criticised opposition politicians while presenting its support for Tinubu and APC candidates as its chosen political position.
The development adds to the growing political mobilisation around Ogun’s 2027 governorship contest.
Adeola has been endorsed by the Ogun APC as its governorship candidate. The party reaffirmed him in August following claims by another aspirant, Abayomi Hunye, to the party’s ticket.
Earlier in the year, the Ogun APC had endorsed Tinubu for a second term and Adeola as its consensus governorship candidate.
Governor Dapo Abiodun has also publicly presented Adeola to APC stakeholders in Ogun West and described him as the party’s candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
The APC has subsequently stepped up its grassroots activities in the state, including a September rally in Ijebu-Ode attended by supporters from across Ogun’s 20 local government areas.
For YAM, however, the immediate focus is on translating its stated support into grassroots mobilisation.
Adejumo said the group would work across the state to persuade voters to support Tinubu, Adeola and other APC candidates.
The alliance’s declaration comes as political parties and support groups intensify preparations for the 2027 elections, with Ogun emerging as one of the states where parties are already building campaign structures well ahead of the poll.
