The Rainbow Coalition led by Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has unveiled its preferred candidates for the 2027 general elections in Rivers State, drawing politicians from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The candidates were presented at a gathering at Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, October 27, as the coalition seeks to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election.
The list covers the governorship, three senatorial districts, 13 federal constituencies and 32 Rivers State House of Assembly seats.
Wike has described the Rainbow Coalition as a platform for bringing politicians together across party lines to support Tinubu in 2027 while allowing members to pursue other elective offices under their respective parties.

APC dominates the coalition’s list
The published list shows that the APC accounts for both positions on the governorship ticket, two of the three senatorial seats, 10 of the 13 federal constituencies and 21 of the 32 state assembly constituencies.
The PDP has one senatorial candidate, three House of Representatives candidates and 11 state assembly candidates.
The coalition’s arrangement is intended to unite politicians from both parties behind Tinubu’s re-election campaign while maintaining separate party platforms for other elective positions.
The announcement represents the coalition’s preferred lineup. The list should not be confused with the final list of candidates formally nominated by the parties and accepted by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
