Ikeja Electric has apologised to customers on some Band A feeders after failing to meet the minimum daily electricity supply requirement of 20 hours on November 3 and 4, 2026.

The electricity distribution company announced the shortfall in a notice published on its official X account on Thursday, expressing regret over its inability to deliver the expected service level to affected customers.

“Dear esteemed customer, we apologise for falling short of the expected minimum service level of 20 hours on the Band A feeders below for November 3rd and 4th, 2026,” the company stated.

The latest announcement means customers on the affected feeders did not receive the minimum daily electricity supply guaranteed under the service-based tariff arrangement.

Under the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission’s service-based tariff framework, Band A customers are entitled to a minimum of 20 hours of electricity supply daily. Band B customers are entitled to 16 hours, Band C 12 hours, Band D eight hours and Band E four hours.

NERC’s guidelines also provide for the assessment of distribution companies where they fail to meet the stipulated supply hours. Following verification of service performance over the prescribed monitoring period, tariffs payable by affected customers may be adjusted to reflect the electricity actually supplied.

Ikeja Electric did not provide further details in the latest apology about the causes of the shortfall or the specific feeders affected in the text of its announcement.

The development comes amid a series of similar notices issued by the company over electricity supply failures affecting some Band A customers.

The company issued several apologies between October 27 and November 4, acknowledging that some feeders had repeatedly fallen below the 20-hour daily requirement.

The repeated notices have drawn attention to the difficulties faced by customers paying Band A tariffs while experiencing supply below the stipulated minimum.

In a separate public safety advisory, the company warned residents against trading, building or erecting structures beneath or close to electricity transmission lines.

It described power line corridors as high-risk areas, warning that activities around electrical infrastructure could expose individuals and communities to serious danger.

The company urged residents to maintain recommended safety clearances and avoid using areas beneath power lines for commercial activities, construction or other purposes that could compromise public safety.

“Stay clear. Stay safe. Your life matters!” Ikeja Electric advised.

It also encouraged members of the public to seek safety guidance or make enquiries through its customer service channels.

The company’s repeated supply shortfall notices and latest safety warning come as electricity consumers continue to demand more reliable power delivery and improved accountability from distribution companies.
