Eight Accounting students of Redeemer’s University have passed the May 2026 qualifying examinations of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN, in another professional milestone for the institution.
The university announced the achievement on Wednesday, saying the successful candidates were drawn from its 200, 300 and 400 levels.
The candidates are Daramola Mary, 200 Level; Adekanla Ayomide and Ojedele David Olatomiwa, 300 Level; and Odeyemi Moyinoluwa Elizabeth, Ijiola Olatomiwa Feyisola, Oyelayo Goodness Oyedamola, Taiwo Tomilola and Medal Praise Olabisi, all 400 Level.
Reacting to the results, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Shadrach Olufemi Akindele, said the performance demonstrated the university’s growing strength in professional accounting education.
“The results further reinforce Redeemer’s University’s standing as a formidable nurturing ground for future chartered accountants in Nigeria,” Akindele said.
The Programme Coordinator of the Department of Accounting, Dr Temitope Worimegbe, also congratulated the successful students, describing their performance as a reflection of dedication and institutional support.
“Hearty congratulations to all our students for their success in the May diet examination of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria,” she said.
“Of course, you have made the centre, department and university proud! Keep soaring higher. Congratulations!”
Worimegbe also commended the university management for supporting initiatives connected with professional accounting development.
The university said the results reflected its efforts to expose students to professional qualifications alongside their undergraduate education.
The latest achievement follows another notable performance by the department in the May 2025 ICAN examination diet, when two 300-level students, Priscilla Oluwatoyosi Olowu and Damilola Alabi, were reported to have qualified as Chartered Accountants while still in their third year.
Their achievement was subsequently highlighted in the university’s 2025 sustainability report as an example of professional success among its female students.
The Accounting Department has continued to combine academic instruction with professional development, an approach that gives students opportunities to pursue industry-recognised qualifications before completing their university degrees.
For the latest batch of successful candidates, the achievement provides an additional professional credential as they progress through their undergraduate studies.
It also reinforces the university’s emphasis on producing graduates with qualifications and skills that can improve their competitiveness in Nigeria’s accounting and financial services sector.
