Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has issued a fresh warning to members of the Fulani community in Igboho, Oyo State, over alleged cases of kidnapping and violent crimes in the area.
In videos circulating online on Saturday, Igboho was seen addressing Fulani leaders, community representatives and traditional stakeholders during a gathering believed to have been convened to discuss security concerns in the town.
The activist expressed outrage over reported abductions and killings allegedly linked to criminal elements operating around the community. He referenced the alleged killing of a pregnant woman and a ransom bearer, accusing suspected kidnappers of terrorising residents despite receiving ransom payments.
“You cannot be kidnapping people in our hometown. You kidnapped someone in my hometown; she was pregnant, and you still killed her. The person who brought the ransom, you still killed him and spared only one person,” he said.
Igboho said he had remained restrained only because of appeals from traditional rulers and elders.
“I am Sunday Igboho. I am calm because my fathers asked me to be calm with you. Let this be the last time such a thing will happen. Has any Fulani man been kidnapped in this town? Please talk to your people,” he stated.
He also issued what he described as a two-hour ultimatum for the release of women and children allegedly abducted from the community.
“I am giving you two hours to release the woman and the children you kidnapped overnight at their residence,” he declared.
In another video, Igboho was seen leading supporters into a forest area he identified as part of the Oyo National Reserve Park. He alleged that criminal groups and armed herders had established settlements within sections of the reserve and were using the area as a base for illegal activities.
According to him, local farmers who previously cultivated portions of the area had gradually abandoned the land due to insecurity.
“Like this reserve area, our fathers were farming there until these Fulani people turned it into their settlement and started rearing cattle in this bush,” he said.
The latest comments come amid growing concerns over insecurity in parts of Oyo State and the wider South-West. In recent weeks, Igboho has repeatedly spoken about kidnappings and attacks in the region, including the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area.
He had also expressed willingness to support efforts aimed at improving security around public schools in the state.
As of the time of filing this report, authorities had not issued an official response to the latest video or the allegations contained in it.
The development has generated intense debate online, with many residents calling for stronger security measures to address the persistent threat of kidnapping and violent crime across affected communities.
