The Obi Kwankwaso Movement has unveiled a 59-member Presidential Campaign Council to coordinate mobilisation and campaign activities for the 2027 presidential election, with representatives appointed across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
The council, announced in Abuja on Thursday by the movement’s National Secretary, Saadatu Sani, includes zonal and state coordinators as well as directors overseeing mobilisation, women’s affairs, contact and engagement, legal affairs, strategy, security and intelligence, administration and information technology.
John Ughulu, the movement’s Director-General and founder, was named Director-General of the campaign council, while Sani will serve as secretary.
The structure is designed to support the joint presidential ticket of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso on the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress ahead of the 2027 election.
The six zonal coordinators are Suleiman Abubakar for North-Central, Hashimu Dungurawa for North-West, Amadu Gwambe for North-East, Adebayo Adefolaseye for South-West, Christopher Ighodaro for South-South and El-Shaddai Ikeh for South-East.
Ibrahim Jabir was named coordinator for the Federal Capital Territory, while coordinators were also appointed across the 36 states.
Other members of the campaign council include Rev. Mike Agbon, Director of Inter-Ethnic Group in Northern Nigeria; Sabo Gashua, Grassroots Mobilisation; Glory Adayi, Women Affairs; Kabir Yahaya, Contact and Engagement; Abdulmumini Tijjani, Mobilisation; Yusuf Mani, Special Duties; and Peace Daful, Procurement.
Kingdom Okere was appointed Director of Legal Affairs, Abiodun Dabiri Director of Strategy and Planning, Richard Enemona, CSP (retd.), Director of Security and Intelligence, while Aisha Abdulrahaman was named Director of Administration.
In her message to the appointees, Sani described their selection as a call to duty and urged them to take the movement’s message from the cities to grassroots communities across the country.
“Your selection is not merely an appointment; it is a call to duty, sacrifice, leadership and service to Nigeria,” she said.
She added that the movement expected members of the council to approach the assignment with discipline, loyalty, humility and commitment, saying the task would require strategic thinking, grassroots mobilisation and effective communication.
Sani said the immediate responsibility of the council was to ensure that the message of the movement’s principals reached Nigerians across the country.
The formation of the council comes as political organisations prepare their structures ahead of the 2027 elections.
In August, the OK Movement said it would retain its independent organisational structure rather than merge with another political organisation, while remaining open to cooperation with groups pursuing similar political objectives.
The movement has also recently called for an investigation into the reported disruption of Obi’s convoy during his visit to Benue State. It said its security personnel exercised restraint to prevent the incident from escalating into violence.
The new campaign council provides the movement with a formal structure spanning the geopolitical zones, states and FCT as it organises its mobilisation and engagement activities ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
