Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has awarded a comprehensive scholarship covering undergraduate and postgraduate studies to a student who emerged among the state’s top performers in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination(UTME).
The beneficiary, Chiazo Umeaniba, a student of Maria Regina Model Comprehensive Secondary School, Nnewi, scored 344 in the 2026 UTME and was recognised by the governor during the first anniversary celebration of Solution Fun City in Awka on Sunday.
Umeaniba, who serves as the senior prefect of her school, was among dancers entertaining guests at the event when Soludo learnt of her outstanding academic achievement.
In response, the governor announced an education package that would support her studies from undergraduate level through to a doctorate degree.
“Your education from undergraduate to PhD is on me. Yes, the bill is on me,” Soludo declared.
“I was also a senior prefect like you, I made the best result.
“You know why I’m touched: I was a senior prefect like her, I went into the university and made a first class honours and won all the departmental and faculty prizes.
“I am also wishing that she, as a senior prefect and making 344 in UTME, is going in there, I can see her coming out with first class honours, but the bill I will pay. Even after my tenure as a governor, I will continue to pay the bills.”
The governor’s announcement drew applause from attendees at the anniversary celebration, which featured cultural displays, music performances and recreational activities.
Soludo also used the occasion to highlight the growing significance of Solution Fun City, describing it as a major recreational destination aimed at serving residents across social and economic backgrounds.
According to the governor, the facility forms part of his administration’s broader agenda to position Anambra as a hub for tourism, leisure and investment.
Solution Fun City was commissioned by President Bola Tinubu in May 2025 and officially opened to the public on June 28, 2025.
Soludo said the success of the project had begun attracting investor interest in large-scale developments, including residential estates and industrial projects, adding that his administration intends to continue expanding the facility.
Speaking at the event, Secretary to the State Government and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Solution Fun City, Chiamaka Nnake, described the centre as evidence of the administration’s commitment to delivering impactful projects.
She disclosed that the facility recorded an average of 10,000 visitors daily between late December and mid-January, with visitors arriving from different parts of Nigeria and beyond.
An excited Umeaniba expressed gratitude to the governor for the scholarship opportunity, which is expected to support her educational aspirations through advanced studies.
The gesture has since attracted commendations from education stakeholders, who view it as an incentive capable of encouraging academic excellence among students in the state.
