The management of Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, in Kogi State, has expelled two students over alleged involvement in what it described as “gay practice” and rusticated four others for one academic session over a campus fight.
The disciplinary measures were approved during the university’s 31st Regular Meeting of the Senate following recommendations from the Students’ Disciplinary Committee, according to a statement issued on Friday by the institution’s Information and Protocol Unit.
The university said the sanctions were imposed in accordance with the provisions of the Students’ Handbook (Second Edition), as amended in 2025.

The affected students were notified through letters signed by the Deputy Registrar (Academics), Eli Gbadafu.
The students expelled are Onumoko Hamza of the Biology Education Department and Abdulazeez Eneji of the Mining Engineering Department.
The four students rusticated for one academic session over fighting are Favor Akowe of the Department of Microbiology, Simbiat Babamuharuna of the Department of Biology, Zainab Omayoza of the Department of Biochemistry, and Sukura Bukola of the Department of Biochemistry.
According to the university, the disciplinary actions underscore its commitment to maintaining discipline, order and a conducive environment for teaching and learning.
The management also warned that it would continue to take decisive action against students who violate the institution’s rules and regulations.
Students were urged to familiarise themselves with the provisions of the Students’ Handbook and conduct themselves in accordance with the university’s code of conduct.
