Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has urged Nigerians not to allow political, religious or ethnic differences to undermine the peace currently being enjoyed in Kaduna State as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.
The governor made the appeal during the 2026 Friends Day Worship Service organised by ECWA Gospel Church, Lemu Road, Tudun Nupawa, Kaduna State,Nigeria, where Muslims, Christians, traditional rulers and community leaders came together in a demonstration of interfaith harmony.
Represented by the Acting Director of Christian Matters at the Kaduna State Bureau of Interfaith, Gabriel Joseph Shemang, Sani said his administration would continue to support programmes that promote religious tolerance, unity and peaceful coexistence.

He described the annual Friends Day celebration as a reflection of mutual respect and understanding, adding that Kaduna’s diversity remains one of its greatest strengths.
The governor also encouraged religious leaders across the state to sustain messages of peace and continue fostering harmonious relationships among followers of different faiths.
In his remarks, the Senior Pastor of ECWA Gospel Church, Rev. Joshua Anyam, warned politicians against using churches as campaign grounds ahead of the 2027 elections.
He stressed that the church remains non-partisan and that the Friends Day programme was created to promote friendship and unity among Nigerians of different religious and ethnic backgrounds.
The cleric also cautioned against individuals who exploit religion, ethnicity and politics to create division, urging citizens to remain vigilant.
Speaking on the country’s security situation, Anyam acknowledged the efforts of the Federal Government and security agencies but said more must be done to tackle terrorism, banditry and kidnapping.
He called for national unity against criminality and demanded that perpetrators, sponsors and collaborators be brought to justice.
Delivering the sermon, Most Rev. Josiah Idowu-Fearon encouraged Nigerians to embrace God’s unconditional love and build relationships based on mutual respect, understanding and peaceful coexistence.
Several dignitaries who attended the event also reiterated that sustainable development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace, unity and religious harmony.
