Former Lagos State First Lady and ex-senator, Senator Fatimat Raji Rasaki, has congratulated Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji following the Supreme Court judgment affirming his election, urging residents and political stakeholders to unite for the state’s development.

In a congratulatory message released in Ado Ekiti on Sunday, Rasaki described the apex court’s verdict as a victory for democracy, the rule of law and the people of Ekiti State.

She said the judgment had finally ended all legal disputes arising from the governorship election, allowing the governor to focus fully on governance and the delivery of democratic dividends.

“The apex court’s decision has finally laid to rest all legal uncertainties surrounding the matter, thereby providing the governor with the opportunity to remain fully focused on delivering the dividends of democracy to the good people of Ekiti State,” she said.

Governor Oyebanji’s election victory was challenged by the African Democratic Congress candidate, Abimbola Olawumi, whose petition was dismissed by the Election Petition Tribunal and later by the Court of Appeal before the Supreme Court affirmed the earlier decisions.

Rasaki called on political leaders, traditional rulers, youth groups and residents of the state to accept the judgment in good faith and support the governor in moving Ekiti forward.

She said the verdict should mark the beginning of greater unity and cooperation, urging all stakeholders to place the state’s interest above partisan politics.

The former senator also encouraged candidates of other political parties to support the administration and avoid actions capable of disrupting the peace in the state.

Commending Oyebanji’s calm disposition and leadership throughout the legal process, Rasaki expressed confidence that his administration would continue to deliver meaningful development across Ekiti.

She also prayed for wisdom, strength and divine guidance for the governor as he continues to steer the affairs of the state.
