The Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) has deployed 54 Niger Delta beneficiaries to the United Kingdom for postgraduate studies under its offshore scholarship scheme.

The scholars departed Abuja and arrived in London on Friday to commence their programmes at various universities, according to the PAP.

They are among 150 beneficiaries who underwent a pre-departure orientation in August following their deployment by the PAP Administrator, Dr Dennis Brutu Otuaro.

The latest deployment brings the total number of PAP offshore postgraduate scholarship beneficiaries deployed in 2026 to 243.

The beneficiaries will study courses including software engineering, cybersecurity, global public health, oil and gas engineering, law, fintech analytics, construction engineering management, forensic audit and data science analytics.

Otuaro charged the scholars to take their studies seriously and serve as good ambassadors of Nigeria and the Niger Delta while in the UK.

He urged them to respect British laws and comply with the rules and regulations of their respective universities.

The PAP administrator also asked the beneficiaries to return home after completing their programmes and use the knowledge and skills acquired abroad to contribute to the development of their communities and Nigeria.

“Education is the vehicle for the socio-economic advancement and sustainable peace and stability of the Niger Delta,” Otuaro said.

He added that investing in the education of young people in the region was important to securing a better future for the Niger Delta.

Otuaro attributed the increased scholarship deployments to the support of President Bola Tinubu’s administration under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He expressed appreciation to the President for his support, saying the large-scale deployments would not have been possible without his backing.

The PAP boss also commended the Office of the National Security Adviser and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, for their supervision and support.

He said the agency’s guidance and professional input had contributed to the implementation of the programme.

Otuaro further thanked stakeholders for their cooperation and encouragement.

The latest batch forms part of PAP’s ongoing investment in postgraduate education and human capital development for beneficiaries from the Niger Delta.
