Ten-year-old Nigerian twins Jason and Jaden Ojo are set to make their debut as children’s authors with the launch of JJ The Sloth and the Twins in Lagos on October 24, 2026.
The book, co-authored by the twins and their mother, Gina Ehikodi-Ojo, introduces young readers to JJ The Sloth, a character designed to help children navigate everyday routines, including getting ready for school, learning, eating, playing and resting.
The launch will coincide with the twins’ 10th birthday celebration and mark the beginning of a wider children’s entertainment and learning project built around the character.
The idea for the book emerged from a family exercise in which Jason and Jaden were asked to write down their daily routines from memory. Their responses closely reflected the structure their mother had established at home, inspiring the family to turn the experience into a story.
Ehikodi-Ojo said the project was designed to demonstrate that children could benefit from structure while still having room for creativity, fun and play.
“As a mother, I have always believed that children need structure, but I also believe that routines should leave room for fun, creativity, and simply being children,” she said.
“What began as our everyday family routine eventually became a story that Jason and Jaden could call their own. Seeing them become authors at 10 is incredibly special, and we hope JJ The Sloth will remind families that there really is time for everything.”
The story centres on the idea that children can develop healthy habits and follow daily routines without missing out on opportunities for imagination, exploration and recreation.
Book Launch to Unveil New Series
The October 24 event will feature a book-signing session with the young authors, family-focused activities, media engagements and the premiere of the first episode of the JJ The Sloth series.
The project is being developed across several formats, including books, digital content, a plush character and a television and online series.
The first phase of the series will comprise 13 episodes, with new instalments scheduled for weekly release on YouTube through JJ The Sloth Adventures.
The episodes will explore familiar childhood experiences, including getting dressed, eating breakfast, tidying up, managing screen time, science, arts and play.
The creators aim to make conversations about routines and healthy habits more engaging by using storytelling, play and relatable characters rather than relying exclusively on direct instruction.
The approach is intended to help children connect lessons about daily responsibilities with situations they recognise from their own lives.
Expansion Into Schools and Libraries
Plans for the project also include school activities, library sessions and book-club storytelling as the series develops.
These initiatives could give parents, teachers and caregivers additional ways to engage children in conversations about organisation, learning, creativity and balancing responsibilities with leisure.
The October launch will introduce the book and the broader JJ The Sloth concept to families, while the premiere episode will provide an initial look at how the character will feature in the digital series.
Pre-orders for the book have been announced through the project’s official page, with orders scheduled for dispatch from October 26, two days after the launch.
For Jason and Jaden, the project represents an early step into authorship, transforming an experience from their family life into a story intended for other children.
For their mother, it is also an opportunity to show families that everyday routines can become a source of learning, creativity and shared enjoyment.
