The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has held a closed-door meeting with Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin and Senator Rufai Hanga of the Nigeria Democratic Congress.
Yilwatda disclosed the meeting in a statement on his verified X account, saying the discussions focused on the unity, peace and continued progress of Kano State.
He said political leaders have a responsibility to promote dialogue, build consensus and place the interests of citizens above partisan considerations.

Although details of the meeting were not disclosed, it comes amid increasing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Hanga recently lost the NDC ticket to seek re-election for the Kano Central Senatorial District after the party nominated former Deputy Governor Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna as its candidate.
The development followed Governor Abba Yusuf’s defection from the NNPP to the APC, which triggered a wave of political realignments across Kano.
While many of the governor’s supporters joined the APC, Hanga remained with the Kwankwaso-aligned bloc, which later adopted the NDC as its platform.
The meeting has further fuelled speculation over Hanga’s political future as parties continue to reposition ahead of the 2027 elections.
