Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus has apologised to her colleague, Laide Bakare, following her reaction when Bakare’s name was mentioned during a podcast interview, urging both sides to move past their differences.
Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus has apologised to her colleague, Laide Bakare, after her reaction during an appearance on content creator Isbae U’s Curiosity Made Me Ask podcast reignited conversations about their long-running feud.
In a statement shared on Instagram on Tuesday, Badmus acknowledged that her response when Bakare’s name came up during the interview might have appeared dismissive.
“On reflection, I realise my reaction when Laide Bakare’s name was mentioned during my recent interview could have come across as dismissive, and for that, I sincerely apologise,” she wrote.
Addressing Bakare directly, she added, “Laide, whatever our differences, I choose peace and I genuinely wish you well.”
Badmus said personal growth involved learning from past experiences and recognising when it was time to let go of disagreements.
“We’re all growing, learning and becoming better versions of ourselves. Sometimes maturity is simply knowing when to let go and move forward,” she stated.
She concluded her message with an appeal for reconciliation, writing, “Joo maa binu. No negativity. No grudges. Let love lead and peace reigns.”
The apology followed a viral clip from Badmus’s podcast appearance in which Isbae U mentioned Bakare as one of his favourite actresses.
Badmus was seen hissing and displaying a noticeable change in facial expression after Bakare’s name was mentioned. The moment attracted attention on social media and revived discussions about the relationship between the two actresses.
The incident also prompted a response from Bakare, who accused Badmus of repeatedly damaging her reputation and described her as ungrateful. Bakare also claimed she had supported Badmus earlier in her acting career.
The latest development adds another chapter to the public disagreement between the actresses, which has played out on social media and at entertainment events over the years.
In March 2024, Badmus appeared to mock Bakare’s outfit at the latter’s book launch. Bakare had worn a white outfit with an orange cape, which attracted criticism online.
Badmus subsequently took to Instagram and asked, “Ewo ninu yin lo wo Aso Pastor Ajidara. Abeg who??”
The comment was widely interpreted as a reference to Bakare’s outfit. Bakare responded by expressing disappointment that some colleagues focused on perceived flaws rather than celebrating her achievements. She also described Badmus as a childhood friend from their University of Ibadan days.
The disagreement resurfaced in April 2025 at the premiere of Eniola Ajao’s film, Owambe Thieves, in Lagos.
Videos circulating online showed the actresses engaged in a heated exchange. Bakare later shared screenshots of private messages between them, further fuelling public discussion about their strained relationship.
Badmus’s latest statement signals a willingness to move past the disagreement, but it remains unclear whether the apology will lead to a reconciliation.
For now, she has publicly expressed regret over how her reaction was perceived and urged both sides to embrace peace.
