Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has appointed Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole, popularly known as Wolekanle, as his new Chief of Staff and named Mrs Aderonke Adedayo Director-General of the state’s Due Process Office.
The appointments were announced in letters signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde, and take immediate effect.
Akinwole previously served as chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission.
His appointment follows the resignation of the governor’s former Chief of Staff, Segun Ogunwuyi, who announced his departure from the administration on Monday, October 12, 2026.
Ogunwuyi said in a resignation letter dated October 12 that his decision took effect immediately. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the state but did not disclose a reason for his resignation in the letter.
Akinwole’s new position places him at the centre of the governor’s office, where the Chief of Staff helps coordinate administrative activities and engagements involving the governor and other government officials.
Adedayo to Combine Two Roles
In a separate appointment, Makinde approved the appointment of Mrs Aderonke Adedayo as Director-General of the Due Process Office.
Adedayo currently serves as Special Adviser on General Intervention and Donor Agencies. She will retain that position while taking on her new responsibilities.
The Due Process Office is part of the state’s public procurement and administrative oversight framework, making its leadership relevant to the handling of government procurement procedures.
The appointment announcement did not provide further details about changes to the office’s structure or any handover arrangements.
Makinde Congratulates Appointees
Makinde congratulated both appointees and urged them to carry out their duties with loyalty, commitment and dedication to the service of Oyo State.
The appointments take immediate effect.
The changes affect two positions within the state government: the Chief of Staff’s office and the leadership of the Due Process Office.
