A Nigerian TikTok user has claimed she is facing a ₦50 million lawsuit from a bread manufacturer after posting a viral video questioning the safety of a loaf that reportedly stayed fresh for two months.
The user, identified as Love, had stirred debate online after sharing a video in which she expressed concern that a loaf in her shop remained unchanged weeks after purchase, neither developing mould nor emitting any smell.
In a follow-up video, she disclosed that a company—identified as Bon Bread—has taken legal action against her, a move she said came as a surprise since she did not mention any brand in her original post.
“Hello, guys, you won’t believe what I’m holding in my hands. Bon Bread sent their solicitors to serve me this letter,” she said.
She insisted that she was careful in her initial video to avoid naming or showing any product.
“I was very intentional in that video; I didn’t mention any brand, I didn’t show their logo,” she said.
According to her, the situation escalated after viewers in the comment section began speculating and naming different bread brands while sharing personal experiences.
“The next day, Bon Bread sent me a message in my DM,” she added.
The development has since reignited conversations on social media around food safety, preservatives, and the risks content creators face when sharing consumer-related concerns online.
No official statement has yet been issued by the company regarding the alleged lawsuit.
