President Bola Tinubu has extended his condolences to former Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, following the death of her husband, Anthony Adeniyi Adeosun, who passed away on Wednesday at the age of 62.

The President’s message was conveyed on Thursday in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in which he sympathised with the bereaved family and urged them to draw strength from the late Anthony Adeosun’s enduring legacy of faith and service.

According to the statement, Tinubu also condoled with members of the Adeosun family, friends and business associates, describing the deceased as a devout Christian whose commitment to charity and community development positively impacted many lives.

“The President condoles with the Adeosun family, friends and business associates over the loss, urging comfort in the legacies of steadfast faith, community service and charity that the devout Christian left behind,” the statement said.

Tinubu noted the numerous tributes that have followed Anthony Adeosun’s passing, saying they reflected a life dedicated to helping the less privileged and serving others with compassion.

He prayed that God would grant Kemi Adeosun and the entire family the strength to bear the loss and also grant the deceased eternal rest.

The condolence message comes as the Presidency continues its tradition of sympathising with families of distinguished Nigerians and former public officials during periods of bereavement.

Kemi Adeosun served as Nigeria’s Minister of Finance between 2015 and 2018 under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari. She oversaw key fiscal reforms and public finance initiatives before leaving office in 2018.

Since then, she has maintained a relatively low public profile while participating in corporate governance and development engagements.

Anthony Adeosun’s death has drawn tributes from family friends, associates and admirers, many of whom have remembered him for his generosity, unwavering Christian faith and dedication to charitable causes.

The Presidency expressed hope that the memories of his life of service would continue to comfort the family in the difficult days ahead.

No details of funeral arrangements have yet been announced.
