Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang on Saturday led a delegation of All Progressives Congress stakeholders from the state to endorse President Bola Tinubu for a second term ahead of the 2027 general election.
The endorsement came at a rally held at Lafia Square in Nasarawa State, which attracted APC governors, party leaders, government officials and supporters from across the North-Central geopolitical zone.
Organised under the North Central Grassroots Mobilisation Network for Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima, the gathering formed part of the ruling party’s efforts to mobilise support for the President ahead of the next general election.
According to a statement issued in Jos by Mutfwang’s Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, the governor declared his support for Tinubu on behalf of APC stakeholders in Plateau State.
Mutfwang expressed confidence in the President’s leadership, saying a second term would provide an opportunity to consolidate the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and advance development across critical sectors.
He highlighted economic growth, agricultural transformation, infrastructure development and job creation as areas where sustained implementation of government policies could produce further results.
The governor acknowledged the economic pressures and security challenges confronting Nigerians, calling for collective efforts to restore economic stability, strengthen national security and expand opportunities for citizens.
He maintained that nation-building required purposeful leadership, shared responsibility and cooperation among political stakeholders.
Mutfwang described the gathering as a demonstration of unity among APC leaders in the North-Central region and a shared commitment to the President’s development agenda.
The rally attracted First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume and other political leaders from the region.
Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule hosted the event, which brought together party officials, government representatives and supporters from across the region.
The North-Central mobilisation drive had been announced earlier in October as part of a broader strategy to build support for Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima ahead of the 2027 elections.
Beyond the rally, the programme includes grassroots advocacy tours, town hall meetings and medical outreach initiatives. Organisers have also outlined plans to establish a party reconciliation committee to address internal grievances and strengthen coordination among APC stakeholders.
The Plateau delegation included Deputy Governor Ngo Josephine Piyo, Plateau State First Lady Helen Mutfwang, Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly Naanlong Daniel and the governor’s Chief of Staff, Jeremiah Satmak.
Former Plateau governors Joshua Chibi Dariye and Pauline Tallen were also listed among the delegation members, alongside the governor’s Special Adviser on Political Affairs, Istifanus Mwansat, APC candidates for the 2027 elections and other political stakeholders.
The endorsement adds Plateau’s political leadership to the APC’s wider North-Central mobilisation effort ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
While the rally demonstrated the participating leaders’ support for Tinubu, the region’s electoral choices will ultimately be determined by voters at the polls.
