The Allied People’s Movement has described Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde as a growing rallying point for Nigerians seeking alternative leadership ahead of the 2027 general elections, saying his record in office has continued to attract nationwide support.
Speaking in Abuja on Sunday, APM National Publicity Secretary Abubakar Yusuf said the party’s cross-party consultations were progressing successfully and strengthening its position as an emerging opposition platform.
According to him, recent political developments in Ekiti State demonstrate increasing confidence in Makinde’s presidential ambition.

Yusuf said members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti recently reaffirmed their support for the Oyo governor and agreed to collaborate with the APM in the 2027 elections while retaining their PDP identity.
He said the party was determined to build a formidable coalition capable of challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress.
“We are working very hard because we are running to win. Governor Makinde has become a rallying point for Nigerians, especially young people, because of his performance in Oyo State,” Yusuf said.
He added that more political groups across the country were expected to publicly identify with the party in the coming weeks as coalition discussions continue.
According to the APM spokesman, Makinde’s achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, security, economic development and workers’ welfare have strengthened public confidence in his leadership.
Yusuf said the party would campaign on issues of good governance, accountability, economic recovery, national security and sustainable development.
He also invited Nigerians who share the party’s vision to join the APM ahead of the 2027 elections.
The statement comes after the Ekiti State chapter of the PDP resolved at a meeting in Ado-Ekiti on July 24, 2026, to collaborate with the APM in future elections while maintaining its existing party structure.
The PDP group also pledged support for APM candidates in the presidential, National Assembly and State House of Assembly elections.
