Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has declared his support for Accord Party candidate Pelumi Olajengbesi ahead of the 2027 House of Representatives election in Osun State.
Olajengbesi is seeking to represent the Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency in the National Assembly.
Igboho made his position known when the lawyer visited him at his residence in Ibadan, Oyo State.
During the meeting, Igboho recalled Olajengbesi’s support during his legal battles following the 2021 raid on his Ibadan residence and his subsequent detention in Benin Republic.
“It’s important to have a change in representation in the constituency. Pelumi is a breath of fresh air,” Igboho said.
He said Olajengbesi stood by him when he faced difficulties and recalled the lawyer’s intervention during preparations for his mother’s burial.
Igboho also said Olajengbesi was involved in the formation of the Irun Ekun Security Network, an initiative associated with community security efforts in parts of the South-West.
“I am supporting his ambition for Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency with everything that I have,” Igboho said, while urging the Accord candidate to fulfil his campaign promises if elected.
Olajengbesi secured the Accord Party ticket for the constituency in May 2026 and has positioned himself as a challenger to incumbent lawmaker Wole Oke.
Oke, an APC member, has represented the constituency in the House of Representatives since 2003.
Olajengbesi, a lawyer and former spokesperson for the campaign council supporting Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election, has made youth representation and political change central themes of his campaign.
He has also argued that the constituency needs a departure from what he describes as the recycling of old ideas.
The Ijesa North Traditional Rulers’ Council in Oriade Local Government Area endorsed Olajengbesi’s bid in July during a town hall meeting in Iloko-Jesa.
The council’s endorsement came as the 2027 contest gradually takes shape, with political parties and candidates positioning themselves ahead of the election.
Olajengbesi, in his remarks during the meeting with Igboho, promised to provide effective representation and pursue programmes aimed at promoting development across Oriade and Obokun if elected.
The 2027 election will determine who represents the federal constituency in the House of Representatives.
