The Premier League has reached its first international break of the 2026/27 season, with all 20 teams completing five matches and BBC Sport assessing their starts to the campaign.
Manchester City have made the only perfect start, winning all five league games and opening a three-point lead at the top after Arsenal suffered a 3-0 defeat at Brighton.
BBC Sport rated Brighton and Manchester City 9/10, while Brentford and Hull City received 8/10.
Arsenal were given 7/10 despite losing their perfect record at Brighton. The defending champions had made a strong start before their heavy defeat exposed some weaknesses.
Leeds United also received 7/10 after beginning the campaign unbeaten, with their 4-1 victory at Newcastle among the standout results of the opening weeks.
Aston Villa, Bournemouth, Chelsea, Coventry City, Everton, Liverpool and Newcastle United were all rated 6/10.
Villa have shown signs of improvement after losing several key players during the transfer window, while Bournemouth have impressed but struggled to close out matches.
Chelsea began strongly under Xabi Alonso but have lost two of their last three league matches.
Everton have proved difficult to beat, while Coventry’s first league victory provided encouragement after a difficult opening.
Newcastle have produced mixed results under Matthias Jaissle, while Liverpool remain unbeaten despite not yet hitting their best form.
Crystal Palace, Fulham, Ipswich Town, Nottingham Forest and Sunderland were all rated 5/10.
Fulham are still searching for their first league win but have earned draws against Liverpool and Manchester United.
Ipswich have shown fighting spirit with late victories over Sunderland and Crystal Palace, while Forest’s home form remains a concern.
Sunderland have competed well against Arsenal and Manchester City but lost both matches.
Manchester United were rated 4/10 following a difficult opening to the season.
Michael Carrick’s side have five points from five Premier League games after Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Fulham, where Matheus Cunha scored a late equaliser to rescue a point.
United had previously lost to Manchester City in the league and Brighton in the League Cup.
Tottenham Hotspur received the lowest rating at 2/10.
Spurs endured a difficult opening despite significant summer spending and failed to score in their first four league matches before their latest fixture.
