Anambra State First Lady, Dr Nonye Soludo, has been named a recipient of the Public Health Innovation Award at the 2026 Africa Future Leadership Conference and Awards in recognition of her advocacy for preventive healthcare and healthy living.
The award recognises her work through the Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative, which promotes improved nutrition, physical fitness, personal hygiene and preventive healthcare among residents of Anambra State.
According to a statement issued by her media aide, Daniel Ezeigwe, the award will be presented at a ceremony scheduled for November 20 at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos.
Ezeigwe said the initiative had supported programmes aimed at improving the well-being of residents, particularly women, children and young people.
The programmes focus on health education, improved nutrition, menstrual hygiene and physical fitness, with the aim of encouraging healthier habits at household and community levels.
“The Public Health Innovation Award announced for the Anambra First Lady highlights the importance of community-based interventions and preventive health advocacy in advancing public well-being,” Ezeigwe said.
The Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative encourages residents to adopt healthier lifestyles through everyday practices that can help reduce preventable illnesses and improve their quality of life.
Preventive healthcare remains an important component of public health, particularly in communities where access to medical services, health information and early diagnosis can influence health outcomes.
Nutrition education, physical activity and personal hygiene are among the measures commonly promoted by public health practitioners to reduce health risks and encourage healthier communities.
Menstrual hygiene education is also important for women and adolescent girls, helping to improve personal care, address misinformation and encourage informed discussions about reproductive health.
The Africa Future Leadership Conference and Awards recognises individuals and organisations for their contributions to leadership, innovation and development across the continent.
The 2026 edition is scheduled to take place under the theme, “Beyond Leadership: Building Legacy.”
The November 20 ceremony in Lagos is expected to bring together participants from different sectors to celebrate contributions to leadership and development.
The announcement adds to the public recognition of Soludo’s health advocacy, particularly her efforts to promote preventive healthcare and healthier lifestyles among residents of Anambra State.
