The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Oyo State has strengthened its campaign communication structure ahead of the 2027 governorship election, appointing veteran journalists and media professionals to key positions in Bimbo Adekanmbi’s campaign council.
The campaign council announced the appointments in a statement dated September 26, 2026, naming Yinka Oladoyinbo as Director of Communication and Spokesperson, while Dr Sulaimon Olanrewaju was appointed Co-Director and Spokesperson.
Ronke Giwa-Onafuwa, Dapo Falade, Bosede Sodiq, Moses Alao and Fisayo Daramola were appointed Deputy Directors of the Media and Publicity Sub-Committee.
The council said all the appointments took immediate effect.
Oladoyinbo brings 27 years of post-qualification journalism experience to the campaign team. He is a Deputy Editor of the Nigerian Tribune and heads the newspaper’s Politics Desk.
His career has included stints with Daily Trust and The Punch, where he worked as a state correspondent in Lagos, Ondo and Kogi states.
Beyond journalism, Oladoyinbo has political experience, having recently served as Secretary of Ibadan South-West Local Government.
Giwa-Onafuwa has more than 16 years of experience in radio and television broadcasting. She has twice served as a General Manager and holds a master’s degree in Communication and Language Arts from the University of Ibadan.
She is also a TEDx speaker, professional master of ceremonies and content creator, while serving on the boards of Educare Trust and Alliance Française Ibadan.
Falade, another senior journalist on the campaign team, has more than 20 years of experience in journalism and political reporting.
He rose to the position of Deputy Editor at the Nigerian Tribune and handled major political assignments as State Correspondent in Ekiti and Rivers states before serving as Lead Senate Correspondent in Abuja.
He founded Newscoven.com in May 2020 and has continued to work in digital journalism.
The appointments came shortly after Governor Seyi Makinde announced the appointment of Oladoyinbo, Giwa-Onafuwa and Falade to information and orientation roles within the Oyo State Government.
Oladoyinbo was named Executive Assistant on Information and Orientation, while Giwa-Onafuwa and Falade were appointed Senior Special Assistants on Information and Orientation.
The development places the three media professionals at the centre of two separate political and public communication structures, although the APM campaign statement did not provide details on how the campaign appointments relate to their government assignments.
Adekanmbi was adopted as the APM’s consensus governorship candidate in May after the party’s governorship primary in Ibadan.
Since then, the former Oyo State Commissioner for Finance has stepped up engagements with stakeholders and residents across the state as political activity builds towards the 2027 election.
The new media structure gives his campaign a team with extensive experience in newspaper journalism, broadcasting, political reporting and digital media as the APM seeks to expand its visibility ahead of the contest.
