Presley Gerber, the son of American supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, has died at the age of 27.
Gerber died on Sunday, September 20, at a rehabilitation facility, according to records from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.
His death was confirmed by Allie Jenkins, a representative for Crawford and Rande Gerber, who asked for privacy on behalf of the family.
“The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time,” Jenkins said.
The cause of death has not been released, with an autopsy pending.
Who was Presley Gerber?
Presley Walker Gerber was born on July 2, 1999, in Beverly Hills, California.
He was the only son of Crawford and Rande Gerber and the older brother of model and actress Kaia Gerber.
His parents married in 1998 and raised their two children in California.
Like his mother and sister, Presley built a career in fashion.
He began modelling as a teenager and went on to work with major brands including Calvin Klein, Celine, Dolce & Gabbana, Burberry, Bottega Veneta and Tommy Hilfiger.
Gerber made his runway debut for Moschino in Los Angeles in 2016, when he was 16.
Two years later, he and Kaia appeared together in a global Calvin Klein Jeans campaign.
He also joined his mother in recreating her famous Pepsi commercial for the 2018 Super Bowl.
His struggles with mental health and addiction
In later years, Gerber became increasingly open about his struggles with mental health and substance use.
He discussed his experiences publicly and used social media to talk about recovery and encourage others facing similar difficulties.
He also shared content under the title “Mental Health Mondays”, focusing on mental health and recovery.
His sister recently spoke about his struggles in a Vogue interview published in August 2026.
Kaia described Presley’s experience as a “decade-long struggle with drug addiction” and said his openness had changed how the family dealt with difficult issues.
Presley had also continued discussing his efforts to seek treatment and recovery in public posts.
The “misunderstood” tattoo
Gerber attracted widespread attention in 2020 after having the word “misunderstood” tattooed on his right cheek.
He defended the decision during an Instagram Live session, explaining that he did not feel understood.
The tattoo was later reportedly removed.
DUI case
Gerber was arrested in January 2019 on suspicion of driving under the influence.
He was subsequently sentenced to three years of probation and ordered to complete a DUI programme and community service.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s records list a rehabilitation facility as the location of his death.
However, his official cause of death has not been disclosed.
An autopsy is pending, meaning any speculation about what caused his death would be premature.

Gerber is survived by his parents, Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, and his sister, Kaia Gerber.
