Former Minister of Transportation and former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi has announced the death of his mother, Mrs. Mary Amaechi, who passed away peacefully on Thursday at the age of 89.
The announcement was made in a statement issued by the Rotimi Amaechi Media Office, which described the late matriarch as a devoted Christian and respected community leader.
According to the family, Mary Amaechi was known for promoting peace, unity and service, while remaining deeply committed to her Christian faith.

The statement said she was a cherished matriarch who held her family together with love and was widely respected for her kindness and support for others.
The family also expressed appreciation for the outpouring of condolences and prayers received since her passing.
It added that details of her funeral arrangements would be announced in due course.
Amaechi served as Governor of Rivers State between 2007 and 2015 and later as Minister of Transportation from 2015 to 2022.
