The Tinubu solidarity walk in Ondo State drew a massive crowd on Wednesday as supporters of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu gathered to demonstrate backing for his potential re-election in 2027. The event, which took place in Akure, highlighted growing political mobilization within the ruling party ahead of the next general elections.

Led by Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the rally—tagged “TinubuDatiwa Half a Million Walk 2027”—brought together government officials, party members, civil servants, artisans, and civil society groups in what organisers described as a show of unity and support.

Kehinde Akinrotoye, a former Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Sports and current coordinator of the TinubuDatiwa Support Group organised the Tinubu solidarity walk.

Participants converged at the Ondo State Sports Complex, where they marched in support of President Tinubu’s leadership and the ruling party’s agenda.

Governor Aiyedatiwa praised the enthusiasm of attendees, describing the turnout as impressive and encouraging. According to him, the walk was part of a broader grassroots mobilisation strategy aimed at strengthening support structures ahead of the 2027 elections.

He noted that the initiative demonstrated unity within the party and reflected growing momentum in the state.

Key Developments from the Event

Several highlights emerged during the Tinubu solidarity walk:

  • Large turnout of APC supporters across various sectors
  • Participation of government officials and civil society groups
  • Emphasis on grassroots mobilisation
  • Renewed commitment to the 2027 election strategy

Governor Aiyedatiwa described himself as a key supporter of the initiative, saying his presence at the event symbolised solidarity with the organisers and participants.

He also emphasised that mobilisation efforts would extend beyond Akure, stressing the importance of ward-level and local government engagement.

According to the governor, the walk represents only the beginning of a series of planned activities designed to strengthen grassroots support across Ondo State.

Mobilisation for 2027 Elections

The Tinubu solidarity walk forms part of broader preparations for the 2027 general elections. Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed optimism that Ondo State would deliver significant votes for President Tinubu.

He projected that the state could deliver up to one million votes in support of the president.

The governor highlighted the importance of continuous engagement at the grassroots level, urging coordinators to intensify mobilisation in their respective local governments and wards.

He said the real political work begins at the grassroots, stressing that local participation would determine the success of future electoral outcomes.

Why the Tinubu Solidarity Walk Matters

Political analysts say events like the Tinubu solidarity walk play a crucial role in shaping early campaign momentum. Such gatherings help political parties:

  • Demonstrate strength and unity
  • Build early voter engagement
  • Mobilise grassroots supporters
  • Strengthen party structures

The event also reflected the growing influence of support groups in Nigerian politics. These groups often play a significant role in voter mobilization and campaign awareness.

In addition, the walk promoted physical fitness, with Governor Aiyedatiwa encouraging participants to embrace walking and exercise as part of healthy living.

He noted that physical activities like walking contribute to mental alertness and overall well-being.

Ondo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Henry Omoyofunmi, also commended the initiative.

He said the Tinubu solidarity walk demonstrated readiness among supporters to back the administration’s “Renewed Hope” agenda.

According to him, the event highlighted the seriousness of efforts being made to prepare for the 2027 elections.

Omoyofunmi added that youth participation in the walk showed growing political awareness and enthusiasm among younger voters.

Programme coordinator Kehinde Akinrotoye said the Tinubu solidarity walk aimed to galvanise support across all senatorial districts in the state.

He explained that mobilisation efforts would extend across the 18 local government areas in Ondo State.

Akinrotoye described the walk as a demonstration of confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership.

He also emphasised that the support group remains committed to expanding its reach across communities.

According to him, continued mobilisation would strengthen the party’s chances in the 2027 elections.

Impact on Political Landscape

The Tinubu solidarity walk signals early political alignment within Ondo State. It also suggests that party supporters are already laying the groundwork for future campaigns.

Observers say such early mobilisation efforts could influence voter sentiment and shape campaign narratives ahead of the election season.

The event also showcased the organisational strength of local support groups, which are becoming increasingly important in Nigerian politics.

As preparations for the 2027 elections continue, more political activities are expected across Ondo State.

Support groups are likely to intensify mobilisation efforts, particularly at ward and local government levels.

Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed confidence that sustained engagement would translate into electoral success.

With the Tinubu solidarity walk serving as an early indicator, political observers expect similar initiatives to emerge across other states.
